This behavior is the product of growing up in a misogynist world. Where you have to remove yourself as much as you can from being a less desired group, from being a woman, in a desperate hope to be treated like an equal, to be treated with the same respect every human deserves.
While people who act like this may seem annoying, they are actually suffering from something they might not even realize. And are usually met with hostility or are met with approval due to the fact they are embracing “masculine” ideals. Ideals that are considered the only worthwhile ones.
It’s sad because even when a girl or woman wants to fit in with a world of men, she is rejected or mocked. It’s sad because she feels the need to put down other women to try to show people that she is worth more than the average woman.
It’s sad because there are still so many little girls growing up believing that being a woman is inherently negative.
It’s sad because our world constantly tries to convince them that it’s true.
so baby why don’t we just dance

I hope everyone has seen this already. If not, i suggest you watch. The most beautiful, sweet, tear-jerking video I’ve ever seen. It’s a marriage proposal, and it’s wonderful.
My friend and coworker, Lori Angle, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She is 28-years-old and without health insurance. If you can, please donate to her fund to help her pay for treatment and recovery. Anything helps. Thanks.
